Data controller
Artesans At Work, S.L. (“Artesans”), tax ID B65995672, registered at c/ Balmes 76, principal 2, 08007 Barcelona, Spain, is the controller of the personal data collected through the artesans.eu website. You can reach us at [email protected].
What data we process
- Data you give us: your name, email address and any other information you include when you fill in a contact form or write to us.
- Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, pages visited and equivalent technical data, collected in aggregate form to keep the site secure and understand how it is used.
We do not process special categories of data, and we do not make automated decisions producing legal effects on individuals.
Why we process it, and on what legal basis
- To answer the enquiries and requests you send us. Legal basis: your consent and, where applicable, steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (art. 6(1)(a) and 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To send you updates about our projects and services, only where you have expressly consented. Legal basis: your consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time.
- To keep the website secure and to improve it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To comply with the legal obligations that apply to us (art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as our relationship with you lasts and, after that, for the limitation periods of any legal obligations arising from it. Data processed on the basis of your consent is kept until you withdraw it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties. It may be accessed by the suppliers that provide us with services (hosting, email, analytics and support tools), always as processors and under a contract requiring them to process it solely on our instructions.
Where a supplier is located outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by a European Commission adequacy decision or by standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability at any time, and withdraw any consent you have given us. To do so, write to [email protected] stating which right you wish to exercise.
We will respond as soon as possible and in any case within one month. If you believe we have not handled your rights properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
Cookies
This website uses only the technical cookies needed for it to work and to remember the language you have chosen. We do not use advertising or third-party profiling cookies. You can delete or block them from your browser settings; if you do, some features may stop working properly.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration. Internal access is limited to the people who need it to do their job. In the event of a security breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the competent authority within the periods set by law.
Minors
This website is intended for people over the age of 14. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age; if we find that we have, we will delete it as soon as possible.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect regulatory changes or changes in how we provide our services. The version in force will always be published on this page, together with its update date.
Contact
For any question about this policy or about how we process your data, write to [email protected] or to c/ Balmes 76, principal 2, 08007 Barcelona, Spain.
Mobile app “Band Companion”
Artesans At Work, S.L. is also the controller of the data processed through the Band Companion mobile app, a tool for music bands for recording rehearsals, organising them by song and studying them.
What data we process
From your account: the email address and the password you sign up with, and the name you choose to show to the rest of the group. We never see the password in plain text.
What you create with the app:
- Audio recordings of the rehearsals and of the rehearsals you import.
- Sheet music and lyrics you upload (PDF), and the annotations you make on them.
- Musical information: songs, authors, key, tempo, notes, links, markers, ratings and concerts (name, date and town).
Nothing else. The app does not collect your location, your contact book, browsing data or advertising identifiers. There is no advertising, no trackers and no third-party analytics or error-reporting tools, and we do not sell or transfer data to anyone for commercial purposes.
The microphone
The app asks for permission to access the microphone with a single purpose: to record when you press the record button. It does not listen in the background and does not record at any other time. You can withdraw the permission from the system settings at any time; you will then be unable to record, but the rest of the app keeps working.
Where the data is stored
On your device, first of all. The app is built to work without coverage: what we record and write is saved on the phone, and that is where the main copy lives. That is why you can use the whole app offline.
In the cloud, if your plan includes it, so there is a copy of it and it can be shared with the group:
- The musical and account information is stored on Supabase servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
- The files (audio, PDF) are kept in a private Backblaze store, today located in the United States. This transfer outside the European Economic Area is covered by the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. The files are never public: they can only be accessed through temporary links that we issue after checking that whoever requests them belongs to the group that owns them.
On the free plan, nothing is uploaded: everything stays on the device.
Who they are shared with
With the other members of the group the content belongs to: if you record a take of one of your group’s songs, the other members will hear it. Beyond that, the only ones with access are the suppliers mentioned above (Supabase and Backblaze), as processors and under contract, and Google Play as the app’s distribution channel.
How long we keep them
For as long as your account is active. When you delete a recording, a score or a set of lyrics from the app, the cloud copy is deleted too. If you close your account, we delete what you have stored there; technical backups may keep traces of it for a few days until they are renewed.
Your rights
You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to the contact address given earlier in this same policy.
How to delete your account and data
Deleting only part of it. Within the app you can delete a specific recording, score or set of lyrics at any time, without having to touch anything else: when you do, the cloud copy disappears too. There is no need to ask us for anything or to close your account.
Deleting the whole account. Write to the contact email address given in this policy, or use the contact form on the website, stating:
- that you want your Band Companion account deleted, and
- the email address you signed up with.
We will deal with it within one month of receiving the request at the latest, as required by the General Data Protection Regulation.
What is deleted: the account and everything associated with it — the audio recordings, the sheet music and lyrics you have uploaded, the annotations, and the musical information (songs, markers, ratings and concerts).
What is retained, and for how long: technical backups may keep traces of the data for a few days, until they are renewed by their normal cycle. If there were any billing data, we keep it for as long as tax and accounting obligations require, and for no other purpose.
Minors
The app is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not ask for their age. If a child under 14 uses it, it must be with the consent of whoever holds parental responsibility or guardianship over them.
