Band Companion Privacy
Mobile app “Band Companion”
Artesans At Work, S.L. is also the controller for the data processed by the mobile app Band Companion, a tool for music bands used to record rehearsals, organise them by song and study them.
What data we process
From your account: the email address and password you register with, and the name you choose to show to the rest of the band. We never see your password in clear text.
What you create with the app:
- Audio recordings of rehearsals, and any audio you import.
- Sheet music and lyrics you upload (PDF), and the annotations you make on them.
- Musical information: songs, artists, key, tempo, notes, links, bookmarks, ratings and gigs (name, date and place).
Nothing else. The app does not collect your location, your contacts, browsing data or advertising identifiers. There is no advertising, no trackers and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools, and we do not sell or hand over data to anyone for commercial purposes.
The microphone
The app asks for microphone permission for one purpose only: to record when you press the record button. It does not listen in the background and does not record at any other time. You can withdraw the permission from your system settings at any time; you then won't be able to record, but the rest of the app keeps working.
Where the data is stored
On your device, first of all. The app is built to work without coverage: what you record and write is saved on the phone, and that is where the primary copy lives. That is why you can use the whole app offline.
In the cloud, if your plan includes it, so you have a backup and can share it with the band:
- The musical and account information is stored on Supabase servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
- The files (audio, PDF) are stored in a private Backblaze bucket, currently located in the United States. This transfer outside the European Economic Area relies on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. The files are never public: they can only be accessed through short-lived links that we issue after checking that whoever requests them belongs to the band that owns them.
On the free plan, nothing is uploaded: everything stays on the device.
Who it is shared with
With the other members of the band the content belongs to: if you record a take of one of your band's songs, the other members will hear it. Beyond that, the only access is by the providers named above (Supabase and Backblaze), as processors and under contract, and Google Play as the app's distribution channel.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is active. When you delete a recording, a score or a lyric sheet from the app, the cloud copy is deleted too. If you close your account, we delete what you have stored; technical backups may retain traces for a few days until they are rotated.
Your rights
You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to the contact address given earlier in this policy.
How to delete your account and data
Deleting just part of it. Inside the app you can delete a specific recording, score or lyric sheet at any time, without touching anything else: when you do, the cloud copy goes as well. You don't need to ask us for anything or close your account.
Deleting your whole account. Write to the contact email [email protected], or use the contact form on the website, stating:
- that you want your Band Companion account deleted, and
- the email address you registered with.
We will deal with it within one month of receiving the request at the latest, as required by the General Data Protection Regulation.
What is deleted: the account and everything associated with it — your audio recordings, the scores and lyrics you uploaded, your annotations, and the musical information (songs, bookmarks, ratings and gigs).
What is kept, and for how long: technical backups may retain traces of the data for a few days, until they are rotated on their normal cycle. Should there be any billing data, we keep it for as long as tax and accounting obligations require, and for no other purpose.
Minors
The app is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not ask for your age. If a child under 14 uses it, this must be with the consent of whoever holds parental responsibility or guardianship.
