The project is built around a simple idea: learning a language should not feel like studying a textbook. It should feel like moving forward through a personal adventure that invites you to return every day.

The platform is primarily aimed at people learning from English or German, whether they live in Catalonia or have a family, cultural, professional, or emotional connection to the Catalan language. It can support someone who has just moved to Barcelona, someone with a Catalan partner or family, a professional who wants to integrate more fully, an international student, a descendant of Catalans living abroad, or simply someone interested in the language and its culture.

The goal is not merely to teach vocabulary and grammar. LearnCatalan.eu aims to help users understand, speak, read, and live in Catalan, gradually building the confidence they need to use the language in real situations.

An experience inspired by the best educational games

The platform will offer an attractive, bright, and optimistic visual experience, with a level of graphic quality comparable to products such as Duolingo, but with its own distinctive identity, rooted in the Catalan language, the territories where it is spoken, and an open, international view of the world.

Each user will be able to create a profile, choose the language they want to learn from, initially English or German, indicate their current level, and define the city where their journey begins. From that point onward, the platform will create a personalised learning path.

The course will begin with accessible topics such as greetings, introductions, numbers, family, food, and everyday situations. It will gradually introduce more complex structures, listening comprehension, conversation, reading, writing, common expressions, and cultural content.

Over time, the platform may also develop a community dimension. Users could take part in collective challenges, share achievements, compare progress with friends, practise conversations, or collaborate to unlock new destinations.

An open and scalable platform

LearnCatalan.eu is conceived as a digital product with international ambitions. The European domain reinforces this vision by presenting Catalan as a European language that is open to the world.

The first version can focus on a modern web experience, fully adapted to mobile devices and centred on beginner levels. Later, the project may expand through native applications, additional starting languages, advanced courses, content designed for children, professional learning paths, and resources for schools, companies, or public institutions.

Specific courses could also be created around real needs, such as Catalan for living in Catalonia, Catalan for families, Catalan for healthcare professionals, Catalan for business, or Catalan for people who already understand the language but do not yet feel confident speaking it.

The content architecture should make it possible to add new lessons, stories, exercises, and destinations without rebuilding the product. Each pedagogical element should be reusable across different activities, levels, and starting languages.
